[ MM ] No Reflection

by sakuraso

What’s the point of having iTunes alerts if I don’t even notice it in my inbox? So 3 days late but… NEW MARILYN MANSON SINGLE. I admit I nearly hyperventilated. Sad, I know, BUT IT’S BEEN SO LONG. I imagine it’ll be on the new album too, but I do not care. I bought it immediately, no previews or anything. Everyone knows: Gackt & Marilyn Manson, I can pre-order and know that I will like it.

And I do. Very much. At this point I do have to go and calm down before I write anything else.

I really do like this single, vocally and lyrically it’s mature like the songs from Eat Me, Drink Me as well as High End of Low, but musically, it’s back to his heavier days, the sound reminds me of some Golden Age of Grotesque tracks. I was already looking forward to Born Villain, but now I’m feeling a bit less worried about the contents of the new album. Marilyn Manson was great when he was a young guy screaming his frustration against the world, and he was still great when he was a bit more heartbroken and grieving for the love of his life – but maybe in Born Villain he’ll be finally over that. I’d like some more screaming frustration again, personally, and since he has that new level of maturity in his voice and lyrics, I’m liking the idea of Holy Wood/Golden Age of Grotesque meeting Mature Manson.

Also. The chorus is damn catchy. Just saying.

Bring on May 1st.

4am Dye Party Homage to X Japan

by sakuraso

“dry your tears with love”

…the things that happen at a dye party….
it actually started with a tissue, but we switched to a sticky note so we could attach it to my face XP

this was also the end of my white&pink hair.
I miss it.

雅-MIYAVI- What’s My Name?

by sakuraso

“Portugal was freaking hot. But I think London will be even hotter, right?”

Chriss and I, surprise surprise, managed to arrive only just in time for the doors opening. We were too busy eating Chriss’ homemade curry. That, and stupid weekend tube closures >.< Unfortunately, this means Chriss missed her meet & greet with Miyavi (her ticket was VIP), ’cause they never told her it started at 6:30 >.< But they did get him to sign a card for her~

It was an incredible gig. Quite toned down though. Just him and his drummer. Dressed in black. I’m really surprised by the lack of violence… I was at the front, I should have been mauled like at Girugamesh, but most people were well behaved. Except when Miyavi came right in front of us and climbed on top of the speakers, at which point there was a very definite crush. Beautiful moment though, when the staff members started running around trying to hold the speakers in case they moved and he fell off, and to adjust the microphone. Though that wasn’t all that necessary, ’cause we were doing quite a good job of singing for him XP

“My voice is gone, so I want you to sing along. But I’m not sure you know the words :P”

There was a really touching moment when he spoke about the earthquake in Japan, about how difficult it was for everyone, and how hard it was to go ahead with the world tour, leaving his family and friends. He then asked for everyone to do a 20 second silence. Unfortunately, one moron let out a pretty loud giggle. Which was then followed by several loud “SHUSH”es.

They brought on a stool for him to sit on, which he gracelessly gracefully plopped down on. He talked about how it was thanks to us that he was back in London, and how he was happy to be back. He said that since the last time he was here, his second daughter was born which led to a brilliant moment:

“My daughter Jewelie was born … She was so smiley. Now she’s so chubby.
She drinks a lot a lot a lot of milk. Too much.”

The gig was being recorded for a live album, which is good news for those who couldn’t go :O Funnily enough, there was far more pushing and shoving in the queue than in the pit o.O We each bought a t-shirt, poster and poster-booklet thing. We didn’t have enough money for the CD >.< But we figured that we’d be able to get that another time, whereas the concert merch is a one time thing~ Chriss nearly got her hands on one for discounted price – we were approached while waiting for the tube by guys who worked at the venue and got the CDs for free, and one of them said he was broke and wanted to sell it so he could go to the pub… but then got into a massive dilemma over it. And we lost it. Oh wells.

Chriss doing an impression of a duck. While holding the poster-booklet thing.

This was also my first gig with my boyfriend. Good times. I have to admit to being slightly relieved that he kinda floated off during the gig, cause I got a bit self conscious XD; lolol, he’s going to kill me XP

雅-MIYAVI-

by sakuraso

I’m actually too tired to write up a full post right now, but at least this time it’s only pure tiredness, rather than fangirl violence. The gig was pretty violence free, which was surprising. There were a couple of idiots, but fewer than normal XD;

Miyavi was of course, AMAZING. And so very very very playful.

But now I have to sleep. Or my body will give out on me >.<

Girugämesh!

by sakuraso

They were amazing. I am however too tired to write a proper report. I’m also in need of pressing an ice pack to several places. I was at the front and in the middle – i.e. I was a prime target for violence. Someone even tried pulling  my ear bling =_=; Not happy.

I will say: Oh my god, Nii, those glasses. Oh my god those glasses. Oh my god, Nii, those glasses.

I will mentally compose my report. And go to bed. Because tomorrow is Miyavi. Though I might stick to the back tomorrow, I’m not sure I can handle any more injuries =_=

-OZ-

by sakuraso

I have one thing to say.

-OZ- are AMAZING live.

That’s all I feel I actually need to say, but there were some particularly awesome bits I need to write down~

I have comed to the realisation that NAO is really quite stunning in person. For reals. And Tama is actually pretty tiny. And Nao is really beautiful. And Aki has some damn fine curls.

Zukki managed to break his drums, twice – mad props to his tech who kept having to fix it. During these times Natsuki started singing ‘oh oh, we’re in trouble….’ – t’was fun. He himself managed to momentarily break his microphone too. And I do believe Aki had some amp problems…..

They were also all really nice at the signing… well, Zukki didn’t seem to want to be there all that much~ And Aki and Nao looked really surprised when they looked up to see me, but maybe that’s because my hair is now white and pink. Hardcore, like.

UnsraW

by sakuraso

Why yes, the colour of my coke seems oddly diluted, why d'you ask?

Monday night was UnsraW!! Most excellent gig. Except it was at Scala, one has to wonder why, but I guess I can’t complain, considering how close it is to me. I imagine people coming from King’s X were slightly confused by all the people with big and brightly coloured hair outside Scala. I did join in with the big hair this time, mostly because it was done for me XP I don’t have as much skill with the comb & hairspray I’m afraid. I did bring glitter to the table though.

There weren’t quite as many people as I expected to be there, and I’m sure it was pretty disappointing for the band, but, again, can’t complain. We got to sit on the stage, and we all got attention from the band XD; I got away injury free mostly – except the usual sore neck. My friend got taken out with Tetsu’s guitar – she has one hell of a shiner now. In fact, he abused her a lot during the gig. Though I’m not entirely sure she minded all that much :P Apart from the swollen black eye that is.

UnsraW are amazing live. Yuuki looked pretty damn scary – I never thought sparkly red lipstick could do that, but it did. Shou was all chillax in the background, not wearing any shoes (and donning crocs occasionally – normally I hate them, but dammit, they were cute on him >.>). Jin, who is officially one of my new favourite people, was all cool and reserved, occasionally coming to the front to interact with us (favourite moment: him standing at the edge of the stage with his pick in  his mouth, waiting for people to twig that he wanted someone to take it XP oh if only I got it T__T). Tetsu and Madoka kept swapping positions XD; They were very…. bouncy.

I don’t think I’m wrong in saying most of the audience was female, so I have to wonder why the band members (minus Shou, who was behaving himself behind his drums) thought it was wise to attempt to have us lift them…. They did however soon realise that we were only capable of pushing them back on stage as long as they kept their feet on the ground XP Even though it really wasn’t difficult to get to the stage, some people kept near the back of the room, which I think pissed off Yuuki, who got off the stage, stomped over to them, and started pulling people towards the stage. He even grabbed a guy and girl and pulled them on stage – the guy sneaked off the second Yuuki turned away, I’m not quite sure what happened to the girl though. When I looked over she was gone, possibly she sneaked off the other side, but I have a suspicion Yuuki might have pushed her into the audience. >.>;

"Yuuki and his blonde bitches" <- Official caption.

Awesomely, they had a signing after the show :3 Madoka was particularly hilarious with his autographs, writing “fuck you” and the occasional “kill you” – I only got a signature. I don’t know if I should be happy to get away without being cursed or threatened, or disappointed to miss out on the abuse XD; One of them told me “good job”. Why, I do not know. Maybe he was impressed that my hair was still gravity defying even after all that headbanging. Or something. I don’t know. Tetsu was giving everyone (I think everyone, anyway) an “I love you” with his signature XD; But most importantly, I got my photo with Jin ^____^

He's far too cool for me, for realsies.

The entire gig made me very happy. Especially him ^. Next time, Miyavi and -OZ-! …and maybe Girugamesh.

Hit(t) That.

by sakuraso

Last night* was the opening night of JP Underground, which had actually completely escaped my attention, until my friend persuaded me to go, mostly because she bought tickets and needed people for them. I am however very glad she did.

We did arrive somewhat late, well, I say we, but I live literally around the corner, I did however have to wait for some of the others. The entrance was a little messy, but not horrendous. It was somewhat made worse by the fact that it was raining… >.>;

I don’t know what was happening before we arrived, but as we came in, on stage was funky duo 10, the likes of which I can honestly say, I’ve never heard anything like before. To each their own, if it’s your thing, give them some support.

I really wish I had been paying attention to upcoming events. Had I done so, I would have seen what acts would feature, and I could have looked them up beforehand. The main act was HITT, who I didn’t know before. This guy is hilarious. Talent, which he has, aside, anyone who while on stage, keeps checking himself out in the mirror, is EPIC. His dancing alone can upstage even Gackt. YES. EVEN GACKT. He was also incredibly patient and good humoured. While I had no problem with most people attending, there were some people who were far too drunk and acting up… But HITT wasn’t even phased when a man came onstage carrying the guy dressed up as kick-ass XD;

He wasn’t annoyed no matter how many times people came up to him to ask for photos, though he did seem surprised at our “写真を撮ってもいいですか.”

I did feel bad however, once all the mayhem died down, and he was behind the desk with the rest of the beautifully gothic entourage, only a couple of people went up to buy stuff :/ Which really, must have been pretty disappointing for him. He arrived at 3am, went to a small venue, and only sold a handful of CDs :/

And that is precisely why I wish I had been aware of him before, because then I could have saved up and actually been able to afford to buy something. He was genuinely good, and he definitely deserves recognition and support. I know that once I’m not quite so broke, I’ll be visiting the online shop, and maybe even joining the fanclub, and I’ve only ever been a member of two fanclubs – Gackt & Leonard Nimoy, so it’s not like I join these things without much thought~ But I do think he deserves support~

The poor guy looked so bored and fed up sitting behind the table ._.; But alas, I could not afford to buy anything :/ I could have saved on shipping costs XP;

*…it was ‘last night’ when I wrote this, and never bothered to post XP
